witch
B& I were lying in bed, snuggled under the quilt. B had been on the phone to an old woman who lived in Urunga. In my dream, Urunga was north of here, on the Queensland East Coast beyond Gympie. I knew that the woman was a witch. After the phone call, we waited and soon we heard the slow footsteps and the dull thud of her walking stick coming down the hall toward our room. She came into the room through a door to the right of the room and slowly walked around the base of the bed toward me, on the left-hand-side of the bed. I was scared. She eyed me and realised that I was not the one. She stared at B, turned, and walked back around the base of the bed and up to where she could easily see B. She had shrewd black eyes, a sharp nose, and she was wearing a black dress with black stockings and shoes—much like a grieving widow. She was of ill intent and was here because B had told her that another old woman, a healer, wanted to help B and had given her gifts. The witch wanted the gifts, perhaps to intercept the magic of the healer. She reached down and picked up the first gift, a large pot plant, which I identified as a Money Plant, and asked if she could have it. She then took the second gift, a bunch of long-stemmed yellow flowers wrapped in cellophane and asked if she could have those. We both felt that we couldn’t refuse her or something terrible would happen. We sat down to have green tea and water. I felt awkward and transparently wary of her, whereas B seemed at ease. I walked her to the door where she confronted me, laying a brittle hand on my arm, asked why I disliked her. I answered, saying something that I can’t quite recall, and her appearance changed, resembling the other old woman: the healer. She had long grey hair that hung around her shoulders, a strong face and a more solid body. She smiled at me, although I still felt distrustful, and she left, taking the plant and flowers with her. I went back to where we had been having tea and there was a large cake sitting on the low coffee table. I broke off a hunk of cake in my hand and ate it wolfishly. There was a large dog sitting looking at me and I offered him some cake. We both ate the cake, he biting off big chunks and swallowing them whole, and me, grabbing handfuls of cake and eating them as fast as I could. I told him he was a good dog and he looked at me, surprised and grateful.

exams
I was in a classroom with about twenty other people. We were finding out our timetable and, unexpectedly, when our exams were due. I thought I was up-to-date with the work and hadn’t realised that there were exams. Queen Elizabeth walked in and handed out documents that included all of the exam timetables and the names of the people who would potentially be our examiners. She was pointing out one particular name, saying that she was a very hard examiner and that anybody under-prepared would fail. I was going through the document, trying to find anything relevant to me, nervous about understanding it correctly, and hurriedly taking notes. I turned to the front page and realised that the entire creative strand has been marked in red ‘No Examination Required’. I felt immense relief.
fireworks
(dreamed a couple of nights ago)
I was sleeping in a small, one-person tent by the side of a road. The road ran parallel to a beach, but was separated from the beach by a row of houses. I crawled out of the tent and walked down the road in search of a shower and possibly a way home. I found a public toilet block where there were people gathered, waiting for a bus. I decided to go back to the tent to get some fresh clothing and a towel. There were people milling around, like they were at a festival of some kind. As I was leaning into the tent, collecting my things, I noticed my friend A in the crowd. They all ran down to the beach behind the houses where there were fireworks being let off. I could see firecrackers exploding above the houses, their sparks shooting up and showering down in wonderfully detailed jellyfish shapes of brilliant colours.

journey
I had to leave all of my belongings, my luggage, in the bus that we had been travelling in. It seems I had been on a journey and was to travel the rest of the way on foot. I was trying to choose between three pairs of boots, all tan with brown stitching and laces, but with varying heel heights and levels of comfort. I chose the second pair, being a compromise between style and practicality, put on several layers of clothing, not knowing exactly what I would require, and left everything else behind. I walked across a wide field and eventually came to a place where there was an abandoned building, a vast, four or five storey brown-brick building like an office block or a college. I was asking people what was to happen with the building, now that its previous owner had died. My question remained answered.

wine
Dreamed a couple of nights ago:
B & I were sitting at a wooden picnic table with my friends. Everyone was tasting wine. B was quickly identifying each wine that she tasted (mainly whites), naming the aromas, the character of the wine, the grape variety and the specific the wine region. I was proud of her and was clapping and calling out to judge standing on a platform to our left, telling him about her palette. Suddenly, I remembered that we had agreed not to drink for a while and I became cross. I picked up my bag and stalked away, although hesitantly as I hoped that B would follow me. I walked all the way home which was back to a house that I lived in a few years ago. The house was wet and falling apart. I stepped onto the low verandah, only just higher that ground level, and the floorboards were sodden, bending and crumbling.

lightning
I don’t remember more than this:
I was riding a lightning rod, not made from light and energy, but from some kind of light-weight, painted material like a stage prop. The lightning rod was the pointing in the wrong direction, shooting down toward the Earth instead of up, where I wanted to go. I simply turned it around, straddled it and shot off up through the ceiling (reminiscent of a church hall ceiling), into the sky.

body
I was in a room with other people. There was music playing and I began to move, something between a dance and magical acrobatics. I lunged toward a woman, clasping her waist in my arms, my body and her body forming the two sides of a scalene triangle for a moment, before I slid down to the floor, taking her skirt with me. I rose and leapt into a space where I began to spin around, gradually letting my body rest into gravity, leaning outward further and further until my body, trusting the centrifugal force, was parallel with the floor and came to a graceful stop.
Later, I was scaling a hill and came to a barrier that I had to climb before going on my way. Whilst I was trying to find an easy access point, a girl threw a small ball at me and I reached out my right hand and caught it, my reflexes working quickly. I felt proud of my catch and threw the ball back to her but, instead of a sharp or arching throw, the ball fell short of her and bounced back to me. Again, I caught the ball swiftly and surely and tried to throw the ball back to the girl. Again, it was a weak throw.
